What is CBD?

CBD is short for cannabidiol. Cannabidiol is an extract from hemp, a commonly used term for strains of the cannabis sativa plant with very low levels of THC. Unlike THC, CBD it's non-intoxicating, and it does not produce a high. Today, hemp is used in a wide range of products in the United States and globally.

Why Use Cannabidiol CBD Oil Supplements?

CBD has become a highly sought after compound in recent years, taking the natural products industry by storm after receiving highly publicized exposure in the media, including in Sanjay Gupta’s special, “Weed”, which first premiered on CNN. Since then, CBD oil products have appeared on shelves in doctors offices, medical marijuana dispensaries and grocery stores alike, with no medical card required to purchase.

What are the effects of CBD?

CBD interacts with the body through the endogenous cannabinoid system (ECS) or endocannabinoid system. First discovered in the late 1980’s, the endocannabinoid system regulates the body’s homeostasis, or general state of balance, impacting such functions as mood, sleep, appetite, hormone regulation, and pain and immune response. Like an acrobat on a highwire, as the environment around us impacts our normal balance, the endocannabinoid system “corrects” by mediating our body’s reaction to keep us level.

What is the Endocannabinoid System?

The endocannabinoid system is found in all mammals, and is made up of millions of cannabinoid receptor sites located primarily throughout the brain and central nervous system (CB1 receptors) and immune system (CB2 receptors) that act in neural communication. However, the endocannabinoid system doesn’t simply rely on plant-based cannabinoids, or phytocannabinoids. The human body is capable of making its own cannabinoids. Similar in function to CBD, Anandamide and 2-AG are the body’s own endocannabinoids, created to control communication between cells, mediating your body’s functions. It’s clear that the endocannabinoid system is one of the most important regulatory systems in the human body, but most people do very little to support the health of this system, because cannabinoids have not been part of the average diet.

What are the Health Benefits of CBD?

In addition to positively affecting the endocannabinoid system, CBD has been the focus of more than 23,000 published studies about cannabinoids in relation to various medical indications including anxiety, epilepsy, inflammation, cancer and chronic pain to name few. CBD is still been studied and it is believed that many more benefits will be found.

Does CBD Make me High?

No, CBD does not elicit a high feeling. THC is the chemical in marijuana that produces a high. Industrial hemp that contains 0.3% THC is federally legal because this is considered too low to have any effect.

What are the Differences of CBD and THC?

Cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) are the two most prominent cannabinoids found in Cannabis, the plant genus that includes both hemp and marijuana. While there are over 100 different cannabinoids so far identified in cannabis by scientists, CBD and THC are by far the most extensively studied and best understood. One of the key differences between CBD and THC is whether the cannabinoid will cause a euphoric effect, or “high,” when consumed. THC does, and CBD does not have the “high” effect when consumed. CBD and THC both interact with the body through the endocannabinoid system, a vital signaling system responsible for regulating a wide array of functions, some of which include:
 Pain    Appetite    Mood    Memory
 Immune response    Sleep
 Cycles of cellular life and death

Does CBD Have Side Effects?

First and foremost, CBD will not cause you to experience an euphoric effect, or “high.” CBD oil is completely non-psychoactive. This means that, as opposed to THC, it will not adversely affect your sensory awareness, perception, consciousness, reaction time or behavior. While there have been some reports of dry mouth, low blood pressure and drowsiness, a research review investigating CBD side effects and safety found that CBD had NO adverse physiological effect on the following:
 Blood pressure    Heart rate
 Body temperature   Glucose levels
 pH levels
 Exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide between the lungs and bloodstream
 Red blood cell volume
 Time it takes for food to leave stomach and travel through the intestines
 Vomiting action   Body temperature
 Potassium and sodium levels

Is CBD Legal?

CBD is now fully legal at the federal level under the 2018 Farm Bill and is legal in all 50 states. The FDA considers hemp and hemp-derived extracts to be food-based products. As such, there are no legal restrictions on their importation, production, sale or consumption in the United States, as well as most of the industrialized world. Hemp oil is legal in over 40 countries around the globe. Hemp oil is consumed by millions of people around the planet, and this number is rapidly rising as an increasing number of studies explore hemp’s numerous health benefits.

Is it Safe to Take CBD?

Yes, CBD is considered to be safe and non-toxic for humans to take, even at high amounts. A research paper titled Safety and side effects of cannabidiol explored this subject. Thankfully, CBD is harmless to use by all the members of your family (including your Pets) because it is non- psychoactive and has minimal side effects. Additionally, Medical Marijuana, Inc. takes a number of important steps during our manufacturing process to ensure that the CBD hemp oil products that you and your family have come to trust are always the safest and most reliable they can be. Can I Overdose on CBD

No, cannabinoids have no known toxicity. While everyone’s dosage amount is different for their desired results, we suggest starting a CBD regime in small amounts and increasing the dosage, as needed, to reach desired effect.
